Intercambios or language exchanges, are popular ways to practice speaking Spanish as well as to make friends.
Every night a different bar hosts a language exchange. It is easy to attend and usually free, other than buying a drink.
Intercambios tend to stop or be emptier during the university holidays.
The following groups are popular:
- Mondays – 8PM – The Irish Theater / 10PM – Super Ocho
- Tuesdays – 10PM – La Hacienda
- Wednesdays – 10PM – Erasmus Cafe
If going to an intercambio isn’t for you then visit any pub, bar or club a day strike up a conversation. The use of apps like HelloTalk (language exchange app) and Tinder are other popular ways of meeting people both to exchange languages and to start friendships.
