Located in Van Dyck, El Montadito starts to get busy around 9 o’clock and is the perfect place for some Montaditos (mini baguettes). Whilst the wild west interior may be a little kitsch, the food is both quick and cheap (around 1.50€ per item).
Write numbers against items on the paper menu and give it to the waiter behind the bar. You can pay now or later. If you’re hungry try one of their hamburgers (from 3€). It won’t blow you away like the hamburgers in La Pepita but will fill you up nicely. Otherwise, 2 or 3 regular items should be enough. Share a portion of patatas bravas (fried potato cubes) and help yourself to the different coloured sauce bottles in the fridge next to the collection area.
El Montadito Menu
Here is a copy of the menu. Simply write how many you’d like of each item and hand it in at the bar. If you’re not quite sure what something is then just risk it. Everything is good, even if some of the combinations may appear a little strange.
Where is El Montadito? Map
Easy to find on Van Dyck tapas street. Just walk along until you see the wild west theme inside. There’s a big, old wine barrel at the door. Go in and take a seat anywhere.
